Do You Want Salvation?
“It shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” ISAIAH 65:24
There are six scriptural steps to salvation:
1. ACKNOWLEDGE: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 “God be merciful to me a sinner.” Luke 18:13
2. REPENT: “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Luke 13:3 “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.” Acts 3:19
3. CONFESS: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 “If thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9
4. FORSAKE: “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the Lord....for He will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:7
5. BELIEVE: “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Mark 16:16
6. RECEIVE: “He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” John 1:11-12
Why Not Make Your Decision Right Now? Just Pray These Words:
“Lord Jesus, I believe You died for my sins and I ask Your forgiveness. I receive You now as my personal Savior and invite You to manage my life from this day forward. I have now acknowledged, I have now repented, I have now confessed, I now relinquish my ways and thoughts, I am saved! In Jesus’ Name. Amen
If you have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, it is not the end but rather the beginning of a brand new way of living. Here are four hints that will help you live for Jesus:
-
Tell some one what you have done. It is important to “go on record” that you have been born again. Tell someone who knows you well enough to notice the difference that Jesus will be making in your life. If you have trouble explaining it, just say something like, “I can’t explain all the details yet, but I have committed my life to Jesus Christ and from now on, I’m going to live the way He tells me in His Word.”
-
Begin reading your Bible. Start with the Gospel of John. Read a bit of the Bible every day. Also try reading one Proverb for each day of the month. There are thirty-one chapters in the Book of Proverbs--one for every day of the month!
-
Pray every day. Prayer is simply talking to God. He wants to hear from you. Tell Him about your high points and ask Him to help you through the rough spots. Ask Him to direct you in all of your ways, especially finding a church home.
-
Go to church regularly. The church is God’s family here on earth. You’ll want to be with your church family as frequently as possible for study and service, friendship, fellowship and fun.
Practical Application of God's Word
Ø Pray over God’s Word that He would open your eyes, open your heart (stir) and give you a mind for His Word.
Ø Ponder it – study it – write it. Is there a promise to claim? Is there a lesson to learn? Is there a blessing to enjoy? Is there a command to obey or a sin to avoid? Is there a new lesson to carry with me?
Ø Preserve it – hide it in your heart.
Ø Practice it – keep the Word of God in your daily life experiences.
Ø Proclaim it – talk of the Lord, tell it to someone.
Ø Appropriate it – use the Word of God. It will be a source of growth, joy, victory and power.
